Young Jaman,

the Entrepreneur

A black queer person with a long beard wearing black framed glasses and a purple suit jacket with a blue collared shirt holding a conductor's baton commands an orchestra.

Mx. Dunn-Danger is particularly proud of having founded the Buckeye Philharmonic in 2013 while an undergraduate at The Ohio State University. Dunn-Danger also served as Artistic Director for two years. The Buckeye Philharmonic is now an incorporated club and student-run symphony orchestra dedicated to giving all instrumentalists the chance to play challenging music in a social setting. The orchestra plays a full symphonic repertoire and performs one concert each semester.

In graduate school, at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Dunn-Danger created an ad-hoc chamber orchestra to gain conducting experience. The student orchestra performed two concerts (all large works), both directed by Dunn-Danger. Because of Dunn-Danger’s innovative idea, the Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting has instituted a degree requirement (outside the structure of the degree program) that each student must create an ad-hoc orchestra and program prior to graduating.
